Rules

GUESTS:
A non-member may be admitted to the Club premises as a guest if invited by and/or in the company of a Member or upon special occasions (private parties) arranged by a Member.
 
Each Member will be held responsible for the conduct of his or her guest.
 
REGISTRATION:
Internal Revenue Service and Liquor Control Commission Regulators require that all guests be registered.  Registration books are provided in the Main Lobby and in the Founders Room.
 
RESERVATIONS:
Reservations for lunch and dinner are requested.  These are essential for proper staffing and service.  Please specify room desired.  
 
LUNCHEON SERVICE:
Luncheon is served in the Founders Room and the Informal Dining Room on Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
 
SNACK SERVICE:
Limited menu service is available in the Founders Room and on the Terrace, weather permitting, between the end of luncheon service and the start of dinner service.
 
DINNER SERVICE:
Dinner is served in the Founders Room/Terrace and Informal Dining Room Wednesdays and Thursdays and Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is no Saturday and Sunday night dinner service in the clubhouse.The Snack Shack is open for Sunday night dining during the golf season.
 
MURPHY ROOM:
Beverage service is available in the Murphy Room during the dinner hour. Occasionally, the Murphy Room may be closed for private parties.
 
DRESS REQUIREMENTS:
Denim Dress Code:
Jeans and denim are allowed in the Parking Lots, Founders’ Room, Terrace, Locker Room, and Snack Shack at all times, Jeans and Denim are not allowed at any other location of the club.  In addition, we ask that Members and guests choosing to wear jeans and denim to do so with respect and sensibility for those who consider the club somewhat formal and traditional.  
Golf Dress Code:
For all members and guests, proper Golf Attire must be worn at all times.  Caps, visors, and appropriate hats must be worn forward facing.  Any attire with offensive language or design is prohibited.  Jeans, denim of any kind, cutoffs, tank tops, tee shirts, are prohibited. 
For men- Appropriate attire include pants, slacks, or Bermuda length shorts that are substantially knee length and designed for golf.  Collared shirts, turtle necks, and mock turtlenecks must be tucked in. Pull overs, wind shirts, and vests designed for golf are acceptable.
For Women- conventional golf attire such as that sold in the golf shop is the standard.  Blouses and shirts should be tucked in unless specifically designed to be worn untucked. 
Upscale Dress Code:
Unless specifically outlined for events and special functions of the membership, general member dining and casual daily usage of the front lobby, Reading Room, Farmington Room, Murphy Room, and Informal Dining rooms is consistent with the Golf Dress Code as listed above.  While jackets and ties are not required for men, and no formal attire is required for women, a more upscale attire is often present upstairs, and guests should be made aware of this to avoid feeling uncomfortable.
 
We ask all members and guest to be aware of, and adhere to, the Country Club’s dress code.  Club Professional staff has been directed by the Board of Governors to advise members and their guests if their dress is not consistent with club policy, and to deny access and service when infringements are not remedied immediately 



 PRIVATE PARTIES AND OTHER:
Guest and private party charges may be charged to the sponsoring member’s account.  The club also accepts Visa/MasterCard/ Discover for non-member usage.  Food and Beverage charges closed to a member account are subject to applicable state taxes and 18% service charge, for non-members the service charge is 20%
 
 
LOCKERS & LOCKER ROOMS:
Men's lockers may be rented by a regular or senior member only, based on seniority.  The seniority record is based upon the starting date of the Regular Membership classification or the date when a regular member requests to be put on the listing.  Ladies' lockers may be rented by those ladies holding regular or golfing privilege membership class based on seniority.
 
To facilitate maintenance of the locker rooms, Members are requested to keep personal items except shoes inside their respective lockers.  The Locker Room attendants will handle shoe shining.
 

FINANCIAL RULES
FOOD & BAR CHECKS:
Members are encouraged to sign all food and bar checks, retaining a copy for their records. Members may view recent transactions by logging into their online account as well.  Disputed Charges, errors and omissions must be brought to the attention of the business office within 24 hours of the transaction.  All Charges are finalized at the end of each business day.   
 

PROPERTY DAMAGE:
The cost of replacing any property of the Club broken or damaged by a Member or guest of a Member, shall be charged to the Member responsible.
  
DELINQUENCIES:
All outstanding accounts must be paid by the first of the month following the rendering of said accounts by the club (“due date”). Interest on delinquent accounts will accrue at the rate of 1 ½ per cent per month after said due date.  If the account remains unpaid for fifteen (15) days after the due date, the delinquent member will be sent a letter notifying him (her) of said delinquency.  Any member whose account remains delinquent more than thirty (30) days following the due date will be posted and all club privileges will be suspended for said member.  If the member’s account remains delinquent more than sixty (60) days following the due date, the Governing Board, in its discretion, may expel said member.
 
 
PLATFORM TENNIS COURTS:
The Club has available two (2) courts for members’ use.  Members are required to register their guests with the Club before starting play.  Reservation sheets for seven (7) days running are kept in the Club Office and court time may be reserved up to one (1) week in advance.  Permanent reservations for the season are available during the month of September at the Club Office.
 
Reservations are for up to one and one-half hours and may be made in person or by phone.
 
Only flat tennis sneakers or crepe soled shoes may be worn on the courts.  Rules governing play will be posted in the shed and should be observed.  The combination to the shed is 2143 and the lights and the heaters should be turned off and all doors should be locked when play is done.  Broken lights should be reported to the Course Superintendent.  Check with the Course Superintendent and observe posted signs to be sure courts are playable and observe signs and lowered nets indicating no play.
 
Members should report incidents of unauthorized play, abuse or misuse of courts and violations of these rules to the Club Office.
 
GOLF PLAY:
The following rules are intended to give the most enjoyment to the greatest number of Members and their guests.  Members observing infractions of the rules and regulations of the Club are asked to direct their comments to the attention of the Golf Committee in writing.
  
MEMBERS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Members should be familiar with Section I, "Etiquette", of the Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, which applies to play at The Country Club of Farmington.  Direct confrontation between Members on the course is discouraged and does not conform to the spirit of golf.
 
The Club has an audible alarm system in place that warns when a potentially dangerous storm is approaching.  When the alarm is sounded all golfers should immediately seek appropriate shelter or return to the Clubhouse.
 
Maintenance and tidiness of the golf course is the responsibility of all Members.  This includes replacing divots, raking bunkers, and repairing all ball marks on the greens.
 
Parents of children who play golf are responsible for their conduct on the course and should be certain that they understand and practice good golf etiquette and know  the importance of course management.  A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is needed to operate a motorized golf cart.
 
Acceptable dress on the course is slacks or regular golf shorts and shirts for men.  Short shorts, jeans and tank tops are not acceptable.  Playing without a shirt or with an undershirt is not permitted.  For ladies, skirts, golf shorts or slacks and blouses are appropriate. 
                                                                             
Members assume responsibility for the conduct and dress of their guests on the golf course and should be sure that they follow the golf course rules.  All green fees and cart charges for guests will be charged and billed to the sponsoring Member.
           
GOLFING PRIVILEGES:            
Regular Members (One who has voting rights and holds an equity share) shall have full use of golf course at any time, unless there is a specific tournament scheduled.          
 
Senior Members shall have full use of the golf course Monday-Friday unless there is a specific tournament scheduled.  They may also play weekends after 9:00 a.m.           
 
Families of Regular Members and Associate Members shall have full use of golf course Monday through Friday unless there is a specific tournament scheduled.  However, Saturdays, , play will begin at 10:00 a.m. and Sundays and Holidays at 9:00 a.m .Absent the family golfing privilege, family members of a Regular member, upon the payment of green fees, may play golf twice within the calendar month, other than Saturdays, Sundays or holidays, during the regular golfing season.
 
Social Members upon the payment of green fees, play golf twice within a calendar month, other than Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays during the regular golfing season. Weekend play does not begin until after 12:00 p.m.
 
GUEST REGULATIONS:
Guests must be sponsored by a Member.  It is mandatory that guests play with their sponsoring Member at all times.
 
Social Members may invite guests to play golf on the same basis as the Social Member is permitted to play, subject to all other rules as to guests. 
 
Guests' playing privileges can be extended to the same individual not to exceed once in thirty days.  This does not apply to Member-Guest tournaments.  No guest shall be allowed golf privileges for more than two times in any 30 day period, excluding designated member guest tournaments, regardless of how many members may invite the guest.
 
When a Member anticipates having more than three guests on one day, an advance call to the Pro Shop should be made so that a starting time can be arranged which will not conflict with any other previously scheduled play.
 
CARTS:
The Club has available a fleet of motorized golf carts which are operated as a service to Members.  Privately owned motorized carts are not allowed.  Only two people are permitted to ride in a cart at one time.  Pull carts are not permitted to be placed on or towed by motorized carts.  Members using motorized carts are responsible for their safe operation and for all damage to carts beyond ordinary wear.  All four wheels of the golf carts should be kept on the paths, and carts should not be driven beyond direction signs or within fifty feet of the green.
 
Blue Flags are available for players with disabilities requiring reduced or restricted ambulation.  Members must submit their request in writing to the Golf Committee for consideration, and assignment will be on an annual basis.  When two players in the same group are entitled to the use of a Blue Flag, then both must ride in the same cart.  Under no circumstances may carts carrying Blue Flags approach closer than thirty feet to the putting green, and on those days when carts are restricted to cart paths, carts bearing a Blue Flag must also adhere to the restriction.
  
PLAYING TIMES:                 
Tee-off order will be assigned by the Golf Professional staff when a threesome is present, for single or twosomes the Golf Professional will assign players to form a threesome or foursome.
 
Three-ball and four-ball matches only are permitted on Saturday, Sunday and Holiday mornings.  
 
Informal or casual play of less than a full 18 holes at late hours will be allowed.  However, such play should not interfere with Members playing a full 18 holes. 
 
When permission has been obtained from the Pro Shop to begin play on a hole other than the first, members are requested to have the courtesy of not cutting directly in front of any group, and should leave at least one open hole behind. 
 
REGULAR MEMBERS GOLF NOTES:
ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPETING IN THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. 
Players must be Regular Members. 
 
ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPETING IN MIXED EVENTS.
Mixed events consist of a team of two men and two women.  Guests will be welcome at these events.  The Major Mixed Member Guest must consist of two members and two guests (teams of two men and two women).
 
USGA Rules apply except when conditions warrant Local Rules which will be posted when in effect.
 
All players will hole out in Medal Play tournaments and sweepstakes competitions except where waived by the committee as in Member-Member, Two Ball, and Four Ball Events. 
 
The player is responsible for the posting of all scores.  The Handicap Committee, as part of the Golf Committee shall have charge of the administration and enforcement of all policies and procedures pertaining to the handicap system.  The Golf Committee decisions will be final on all questions regarding rules of play and handicap adjustments.
 
 
In team tournaments, only one gross and one net win will be allowed to the same team. 
 
All prizes are awarded on a net basis unless otherwise specified.  Ties will be determined by matching cards on our 1st hole, on final round, on a sudden death basis unless posted otherwise.  Tournaments with fewer than ten entries will be automatically canceled.
 
Players must sign up for tournaments before teeing off.  On 18 Hole events players will be entered automatically on the 1st day, unless starter is notified otherwise.
 
To qualify for tournament prizes player must play with at least two other regular members.
 
To qualify for sweepstakes prizes player must play with at least one other regular member. 
 
(Please, when registering for tournaments, state whether or not you will be attending dinner). 
 


SMOKING POLICY

 
The Country Club is a smoke free environment with the following exceptions:
 
EVERY THURSDAY- smoking permitted throughout the Founders’ Room and Terrace after 2:30 pm.   
 
TERRACE – Smoking permitted daily to a confined designated area just outside of the Men’s Locker Room entry door.
 
GOLF COURSE AND GROUNDS- smoking permitted.
 

 


   

STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR

 
All members and employees are advised that the Club has a behavior policy for members, guests and employees.  Members, guests and employees are required to conduct themselves and interact in a professional and amicable fashion.  Inappropriate comments, conduct or actions by members, guests and/or employees will not be tolerated.
 
If members or employees violate this policy, they will be appropriately disciplined, which may include expulsion from the Club or termination of employment.  If guests violate this policy, they will be restricted in their use of the Club facilities as determined by the Board at its discretion.  Members or guests should be reported to the Board immediately and employees who violate this policy should be reported  by members to the appropriate Club manager immediately.  The focus of the inquiry will be whether or not, under the circumstances, the member, guest and/or employee behaved inappropriately as determined by the Board in its discretion.                         
 
 
On Saturdays and Sundays, only one guest will be allowed in each foursome prior to 9:00 a.m.  Members are permitted to invite up to 7 guests by making advance arrangements with the Pro Shop.  Approval for over 7 and up to 15 guests may be obtained from the Golf Committee.  Over 15 guests requires the approval of the Board of Governors.
